Summer-Friendly Spray Paint Activities to Do With the Kids This Year!
Today’s children are hardwired a bit differently and some folks might argue that the carefree, innocence of childhood is gone. Nowadays kids are bombarded with screens, games, technology and more! For some parents this is okay and for others, it’s not. So we’ve compiled a list of fun, outdoor spray paint activities for you and your kiddos that are summertime approved!
Spray Chalk Artwork
This is a great summertime activity for the creative family members. You can opt for premade stencils of all different shapes and designs, choose to make your own stencils out of cardboard or go the free-hand route with a one-of-a-kind piece.
There are many child-friendly companies that make spray chalk. The beauty of spray chalk is that this is a temporary, washable outlet that you can use on almost any outdoor surface including asphalt, grass and even snow!
For the children who aren’t interested in making artwork with the spray paint, they can still have fun with spray chalk. Simply construct a race track for them to race their toy cars and trucks on!

Spray Paint Their Name
Another fun spray paint activity, especially for the youngsters, would be spelling out their name with masking tape on a piece of drawing paper, poster board or cardboard. Once their name has been spelled out, go at it with spray paint! Allow your child to create a picture that uses their imagination and speaks to them.
Once the creation is done air drying, remove the masking tape and let your child bask in the glory of their creation. Hang the masterpiece on the fridge or in their room and show your child how special their artwork is. This is a good activity for parents and children. This activity gives a child a chance to work on their spelling too!

Repaint Your Child’s Toy Car
Do you have an old Radio Flyer Wagon, a vintage 1950s Radio Flyer Race Car, etc. that just has lost all its shine and luster over the years or has been worn out from your eldest kids play? As long as it still has all of its wheels and is in working condition and isn’t rusting over, it can be salvaged!
This is another fun activity for parent and child. Have your child pick out a color or two that they like to be the new color of their toy car!
Simply cover the handle and wheels with tape or plastic bags and spray paint the body of the car. Give it a few hours to dry and voila! You have a brand new, updated car!

Spray Paint Fabric
Another classic, yet fun spray paint activity is spray painting t-shirts and different fabrics with fabric spray paint! Purchasing fabric spray paint is not only machine-washable but also softens after each wash. This way you won’t have to worry about clothes being hard and stiff.
This project is fun at any age. Your child can create a special design, use stencil designs, spray their name, etc! Also, if you don’t want to go out and buy stencils for letters and number, you can simply use tape and carve out your message.
Simply create your spray paint template with tape, stencils, etc., choose your colors and spray paint away! When you’re done, let the spray paint dry (which shouldn’t take too long) and remove the tape or stencils.
These projects are fun as a group, great for sleepovers or just something fun to do on the weekend!
